Pharmacies: PHARMACY owners have axed a deal to market dietary supplements with prescription medicines, saying it had caused a lot of public concern that was damaging the reputation of pharmacists. Under the deal the Pharmacy Guild of Australia was set to recommend a Blackmores ''companion range'' for patients taking common prescription medicines including antibiotics and drugs for blood pressure, cholesterol and to reduce stomach acid. The deal, revealed by The Age last week, was met with widespread opposition by pharmacists, doctors and consumer groups, who accused the guild of being motivated by commercial interest rather than clinical need.
